A ratchet turns one way and is held by a pawl that stops it turning back. Each notch is a Click. This timeline tracks the documented ones — the laws, the lobbies, the intelligence operations, the identity systems, and the behavioral machinery that, once built, do not get dismantled.
Read it top to bottom and the pattern is a single sentence: a tool arrives as opt-in, an emergency licenses its harder use, the infrastructure is never torn down, and the next emergency starts one notch further along. Historical Precedent
Before 1945The Steelyard expulsion
Elizabeth I expels the Hanseatic League's London merchants — one of the rule-of-law restriction precedents the historical record offers for foreign-commercial displacement.
The NKVD Administration for Special Tasks
Soviet state assassination is institutionalized under Pavel Sudoplatov — the kinetic end of the subversion spectrum, expensive and attributable, that the soft tools are built to escape.
